Top 10 Gluten-Free Recipes That Took 2019 by Storm

Today I’m sharing a look back at the most popular gluten-free recipes I posted in 2019.

This year I focused less on posting new recipes and more on improving the recipes already on the site. I updated photos, added clearer tips, tested new flour blends and dairy-free substitutions where appropriate, and refined instructions so readers can reproduce results more reliably.

I also made behind-the-scenes improvements to how the site displays recipes and how printable recipe cards work. My plan is to finish converting all recipes to the new printable format and make site speed improvements by next month, after which I’ll concentrate on sharing the new recipes I’ve been developing in my kitchen.

If you’re curious about popular recipes from previous years, I’ve been sharing roundups for several years now — highlights from past years showcase how my recipes and photography have evolved.

On the blog you can always see the current top recipes in the sidebar on desktop or by scrolling to the bottom on mobile. It’s fun to watch which recipes rise and fall in popularity as readers try them and share with friends.

Now, here are the 10 most popular new gluten-free recipes of 2019:

10 Most Popular New Gluten-free Recipes of 2019:

10. Squeaking in at number ten is my gluten-free apple bread. After several trials over the years, I finally landed on the right texture and topping for this loaf, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out.

9. A reliable, easy guacamole is essential, so I shared my simple garlicky guacamole recipe. I make this regularly for taco nights and nachos — the garlic really brightens the flavor.

8. After many requests, I posted a gluten-free cheesecake. This classic cheesecake is versatile and can be topped with fruit, nuts, caramel, or your favorite garnish.

7. Instant Pot dairy-free mashed potatoes are a favorite because they free up the stovetop and simplify the process. I shared this late last year, so it’s included in this year’s roundup — they were a hit for the holidays.

6. My gluten-free Buckeye brownies have been on the blog since the beginning, but they’re a multi-step treat that intimidated some readers. This year I added step-by-step photos, video, and helpful tips — it’s a labor of love that’s perfect for special occasions.

5. The gluten-free pot roast in the Crock-Pot is one of my oldest posts. It needed better photos and clearer instructions, so I updated the post this year to show how easy and satisfying this slow-cooked dinner is.

4. Gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were a big hit, and they’re dairy-free as well. They make a large, shareable batch and are full of comforting flavor.

2. The gluten-free beef stew made in the slow cooker was the second most popular new recipe of 2019. Soup and stew recipes are clearly beloved here, and I’m planning more for the coming year.

Two additional favorites that didn’t make the top ten but deserve a mention:

The gluten-free chocolate strawberry layer cake was one of the prettiest desserts I made all year — and it tasted as good as it looked. I made it twice in a week because guests loved it so much.

My family also can’t get enough of the gluten-free peanut butter butterscotch chocolate chip cookies. They add extra flavor to the classic peanut butter cookie with butterscotch and chocolate — a combination we reach for again and again.
