Valentine’s Treat Jar Ideas: Cute DIY Gifts with Sweets

Everything miniature is undeniably adorable — including these Valentines in a jar. Homemade (or nearly homemade) treats are always a hit, but packaging matters just as much as flavor. The goal here: an easy, high-impact gift that looks thoughtful without taking hours to make.

This project is a playful variation on a photo/message-in-a-bottle craft idea.

Create a Valentines Jar

4 valentines in a jar

These tiny Valentine jars filled with candy are quick to assemble and endlessly charming. If you enjoyed the message-in-a-bottle gifts, you’ll love turning those same small bottles into colorful candy jars. Add simple labels or a little banner and you have a unique Valentine that’s inexpensive, personal, and cute.

Once you have supplies on hand, you can finish these in just a few minutes each.

Supplies for Valentines Jars of Sweet Treats

  • tiny glass bottles with corks
  • small candies (Tic Tacs, Nerds, rock candy for a “you’re my rock” pun, etc.)
  • hot glue
  • pink or red string
  • stickers or label-maker labels

Instructions

I found small 3″ glass bottles at a dollar spot, but you can check craft stores or any online retailer that carries mini bottles. Choose bottles that seal well so candy stays fresh and the cork holds any decoration securely.

Candy Jar with Banner Flag

To make a tiny banner, cut a small flag from cardstock and attach it to a pin or a thin wire. I used a safety pin cut in half and hot-glued the banner to it, but any small stiff pin will work. Add a tiny label or sticker for a short word like “forever” and press the pin partway into the cork so the banner sits above the bottle.

Fill the bottle with colorful candy — two colors of Tic Tacs, mini M&Ms, or any tiny sweets — and press the cork back in with the banner secured in place.

Candy Jar with Quote

Create a small printed quote or design — I used a simple phrase like “We Are So Good Together” — then cut it to size. Attach a short length of string to the back of the paper with double-sided tape, and cover the tape with a matching piece of paper so the string is hidden. Glue the other end of the string to the top of the cork so the quote hangs down the front of the jar.

Use lightweight paper so the quote hangs neatly and doesn’t pull down when the bottle is tipped. This style looks especially sweet when paired with pastel or coordinating candy colors.

Valentines Candy Jars with Stickers

Fill each jar with a bright mix of tiny candies. Use a label maker or small heart-shaped stickers to decorate the bottle or cork. Cute puns — “You’re My Rock” for rock candy, “Mint to Be” for mints, or other corny classics — add personality and make each jar feel tailored to the recipient.

Tie colored string around the bottle neck for a finishing touch and to add contrast. A dab of hot glue under a knot keeps it secure during transit.
